Let's Make it
Happen: A Green Infrastructure Engine for Connecticut
MAR
31, 2009 - Eleven statewide environmental groups today released a
report to Governor Rell and lawmakers detailing critical areas of
infrastructure investment that could rebuild the state’s economy
substantially.

Energy efficiency, renewable energy, transportation, agriculture,
historic preservation, wildlife and natural resources, and Long
Island Sound restoration are critical to Connecticut’s economic
recovery.
The Green Infrastructure Engine: Sustainable Development for
Connecticut identifies key infrastructure areas that
Connecticut must leverage to create high-paying jobs and make
Connecticut more attractive to a young, educated workforce while
protecting our environment and natural resources at the same time.
With smart investment, these areas can bring skilled jobs into the
state, reduce energy costs, and protect the very landscapes that not
only make Connecticut a beautiful place to live, do business in, and
visit. |
"Connecticut must seize the opportunities offered by federal
stimulus dollars to 'spend smart' by fixing broken and
inadequate infrastructure rather than building new sprawl.
This excellent and businesslike paper shows the way—we call on our
state government to use it as a guide."
