Educational RESOURCES

CTLCV Education Fund works with dozens of advocacy groups across the state and region to develop educational materials, called Briefing Papers, on a wide variety of environmental causes. Check them out below.
Renewable Energy
Connecticut’s clean energy future depends on replacing dirty, expensive fossil fuels with renewable sources like solar, wind, and hydropower. Expanding access to these energy options reduces pollution, strengthens our economy, and protects public health. CTLCV advocates for forward-thinking policies that make renewable energy available and affordable for all, ensuring a resilient, sustainable future for every community in our state.

Energy efficiency & Building Solutions
Energy efficiency is one of the most cost-effective ways to fight climate change. By improving how our homes, schools, and businesses use energy through insulation, heat pumps, and modern building standards we can reduce both emissions and costs. CTLCV supports programs and legislation that help residents and municipalities upgrade buildings, cut energy waste, and create jobs in Connecticut’s growing green economy.

Fossil Fuels & Emissions
Fossil fuels remain one of the largest contributors to climate change and air pollution. Reducing our dependence on oil and gas is essential to protect both our environment and public health. CTLCV works to advance policies that curb emissions, promote clean transportation, and ensure a just transition for workers and communities as we move toward a cleaner, more equitable energy system.

Environmental justice & rights
Every person deserves clean air, safe water, and a healthy environment—no matter where they live or what they earn. Environmental justice ensures that the benefits of clean energy and conservation reach all communities, especially those most impacted by pollution and climate change. CTLCV works alongside local partners and state leaders to uplift frontline voices and embed equity and justice into all environmental policy decisions.

Wildlife & biodiversity
Connecticut’s forests, wetlands, and coastlines are home to rich biodiversity that sustains life and strengthens our ecosystems. Protecting wildlife and natural habitats safeguards clean air, water, and recreation for all who live here. CTLCV supports legislation and funding that conserve open space, restore habitats, and protect endangered species—ensuring that the state’s natural heritage thrives for generations to come.

Nature & climate solutions
Nature is one of our greatest allies in addressing the climate crisis. Forests, wetlands, and green spaces naturally absorb carbon, reduce flooding, and cool our cities. CTLCV champions nature-based climate solutions that protect these landscapes while helping communities adapt to a changing climate. By investing in natural infrastructure, we protect both people and the planet.

Waste
The way we manage waste directly affects our climate, health, and environment. Reducing single-use plastics, expanding recycling, and promoting composting are essential steps toward a cleaner Connecticut. CTLCV supports comprehensive waste reform policies that reduce pollution, conserve resources, and build a circular economy—keeping our communities and ecosystems free from harmful waste.

Since 2004, the CTLCV Education Fund has produced briefing materials on a broad array of environmental issues for state legislators, policy makers, media, and the general public.

We encourage you to download, print & share these printable educational materials.
